Ven. Ashin Osadha was born in 1961, Myanmar and his parents were Aung Htoo and Me Hmyin. At the age of 13 he was ordained as a novice at the Village of Thazi under the Preceptor Ven. Kesarinda. Ashin Osadha received the higher ordination when he was twenty years of age, under the guidance of Preceptor Ven. Jotaya who was the Chief of the Shwe Sect.
In 1985, Ashin Osadha passed his Dhammacariya Degree, the Lecturer of Dhamma. After that he became a lecturer at Vizitayone Monastery, in Mandalay from 1985 to 1986. He joined Sasana University in 1987, Mandalay and Yangon.
In 1990, he practiced meditation for one year at Mahasi Meditation Center, in Yangon. After that, he became an assistant meditation teacher and helped his senior masters. Then he joined Mahasi Training School to learn English from 1991 to 1994. In 1995, he was sent back to Mahasi Meditation Center to assist foreign meditators as a teacher. There, he led many meditation retreats for the local people as well as foreigners.
In 1997, he was chosen to go to the U.S. to assist Ven. U Silananda who was the Abbot of Dhammananda Vihara in Half Moon Bay. Since then, he has been teaching Buddhism and meditation to the young and adult.
